(The letter from Mr.Webb and the reply to it from the pen of Hazrat Ahmad were or iginally printed in Shani Haq, 1887).Consequently, Mr.Webb accepted Islam and became an active missionary of Islam , es- tablished seven Islamic branches in various cities in the United States, and in 1893, founded a publication, "The Moslem World".In his letter of condolence upon the death of the Promised Messiah, Mr.Webb wrote: "Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad accomplished a great undertak i ng and conveyed the light of truth to hundreds of hearts, which it could not have reached otherwise.More than twenty years ago I started my correspondence with him and ever since then I have been deeply affected by the fearless earnestness with which he continued to spread the truth in the pursuance of his purpose.Whithout a doubt God Almighty had chosen him for this great enterprise which he fulfil l ed completely.I am sure that he wi ll enjoy the companionship of the saints and prophets in heaven." e I...

VIEW P 0 INT What others have to say about Ahmadiyytat "As Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Human Rights and Inter - nat i onal O rganizations, I have had the plea- s ure to be co me more a wa re of the tremen- dous cont ributi on th at the ten million Ahmadi Muslims have made to the count ri es and soci- et ies in which they live.Ahmadis have en- riched all of our lives with their participation in the entire realm of positive human endeavor. In education , medic i ne, law and other profes- sions , in the arts and culture and in phi l an- th ro py the work of the Ahmadi Community has been manifested. My admiration for the Ahmadiyya Movement in I slam is hightened by the fact that in some 117 countries the Community faces various forms of di scrimination and per- secution, yet, the Ahmad i people remain a peaceful , presevering and benevolent Com- munity." Gus Yatron, Chairman, Subcommit- tee on Human Rights and International Or- ganizations , United States Congress."...The doctrines of the Ahmadiyya agree on th e whole with those genera l ly taught by the Islam. The most str iki ng di f ferences con- cern on ly the Christo l ogy , t he vocation of Mahdi and the Jihad (t he holy war).As to the fi rs t mentioned doctrine, they assume that Jesus did no t die on the cross, but after his apparent dea th and resurrection m ig ra te d to I ndia, strictly speaking to Kashmir, in order to preach the gospel in th e country. There he is sa id to have died at t he age of 120 years; his tomb at Sirinagar is still known, but is mi staken for that of prophet ca l led Yuz Asaf (which accord- ing to the Ahmadiyya must not be explained as corruption of Bodhisatwa!)....Regarding the vocation of Mahdi and the Jihadthe Ahmadiyya teach that the task of the former is one of peace, and that the Jihad against the unfaith - ful must be conducted with peaceful means instead of instruments of war ; under all cir- cumstances sincere obedience must be given to the Government...." From: Shorter Encyclo- pedia of Islam, edited by H.A.R Gibb and J.H.Kramers, Cornell University Press, 1965, p.24 "In Ahmadiyyat we appreciate Muslim piety and sense the via bility of Islam as a power force in the modern world." Dr.Louis J.Ham- mann , Professor of Relig io n, Gettysburg Col- lege , Pennsylvania."Ghu l am Ahmad was an examplary religious fig ure , a seeker of truth who contributed much to the advancement of Isla m.In f undamen ta l be l iefs Ahmadiyyat is very compassionate and tolerant religio n.Ghulam Ahmad re qu ired that his fo llowers refrain from injuring any person , no matter what his or her religion." Dr.Garth N.Jones, Professor of Public Policy and Ad- ministration , University of Alaska, Anchorage.

"Ahmadiyya Muslims are known around the globe for their adherence to their motto of 'Love for All, Hatred for None.'..." T ony P.Hall, Memb e r of th e United States Congr es s."Over the years , I have become acquainted with the many charitable and humanitar i an works of Ahmadiyya Muslims throughout the world. In particular , I have great respect for the Ahmadiyyat Muslim Community in the Dayton , Ohio area which I represent in the United States House of Representatives.Ahmadiyya Mus li ms are a vi brant fo r ce in ou r commun it y and have made many contr i butions to t he we ll- being of our re s idents.Ahmad i yya Mu sl ims are kn own around the gl obe fo r the ir adhe r ence to the ir motto of 'Love f or A ll, Hat r ed for None.'..." Tony P.Hall , Member of the United States Congress."The organization and missionary achieve- ments of the Movement are remarkable. The later represents the most successful Islamic proselytizing effort of the twentieth century and led to the establishment of branches in Europe , North America , the Caribbean , Af- rica , Southeast Asia and Pacific Basin. The vigor of its missionary enterpr i se arose from the audac i ous un i versalism and se lf -confi - dence of Ghu l am Ahmad, which i mpa r ted a global dimension to the sp ir it ual vision and the ab ili ty of his ear ly fo l lowers.Dr.Stanley E.Brush in The Enc y clopedia of Religions."The Ahmadiyya Community has endeav - ored to exert a constructive influence through social projects , educational institutions and health services. Its missionary zeal is to be commended and so is its call for universal brotherhood.Ahmadiyyas has been tested by the fire of persecution and the ice of descrimi- nat i on.I like their emphas is on friendship, equal i ty , to l erance and the ir opposition , in contrast to some other relig i ous leaders, to bi gotry and fanatic i sm.I we l come the Ah- m adiyya support to human rights, i nclud i ng r eligious liberty-- the basic human r ight which undergrids and supports all other human rights." Dr.B.B.Beach , Secretary General Interna- tional Religious Liberty Association.
